Which song makes you happy every time you hear it, and why?

"Airstream Driver" by Gomez. Always makes me smile and dance.

Subject:Writer's Block: Doh!

What is the dumbest thing you've ever done?

Faxing my resume to a job opening from the office where I had been working only two weeks (after moving across the country to take it).

I didn't realize that the other part of town actually required the addition of the area code, and the fax machine kicked back the rejected documents (my cover letter and resume). An hour after I sent the fax, I was called into my boss's office, where I was presented by the rejected documents and given a very stern warning by my boss and the HR director.

Then they offered to set me up with extra hours within the company to meet my financial needs.

I learned a lot working for that company.

Subject:Writer's Block: Change for the Better over a Decade
Mood: disappointed

How are you a better person today than you were ten years ago?

I see things clearer, faster. I understand the situation, and see it for what it is quicker than before.

You, you were the same ten years ago. I see that now. I tried to look past it. But here you are in front of me, the same, ten years later. Lost in the bottom of your beer glass.

Every day you wake up angry. Angry at her. Angry at him. Angry at them for destroying what you had hoped to build.

But what good does it do you, to sit there, angry? Every day flies past you, and you're never able to get it back. Restless sleep, caffeine, empty stomach, beer. Rinse. Repeat. You'll never get them back.

I am better than that, though. I have paid attention. I have taken the notes and the photos and recorded as much as I could throughout my life, in hopes that someday I would understand the broken hearts and the dishonesty among friends. I had hoped to understand the path that I've traveled in order to understand things yet ahead of me. I am better than I was ten years ago because I have observed and assimilated.

Ten years later, I am better at understanding you.

I forgot the disconnection. I forgot lack of interest in me. I forgot your ability to never really see me for who I was. Even now, never any questions about personal life, or details missed over the last ten years. And always two steps in front of me.

But I understand you now. You cannot look past yourself.

So the change, the better change of it all, is that I can see that now.

It will make the broken heart easier to repair this time.

Subject:Writer's Block: Close Encounters of the Celebrity Kind

Have you ever met a celebrity in real life? Who was it and how did your paths cross?

The first celeb I ever met was Cynthia Geary from 'Northern Exposure'. Met her in first class on a flight from NYC to DTW. I wrote a small note and mentioned I'd love her autograph but didn't want to alert the whole plane that she was an actress. She thanked me and signed a cocktail napkin. I was 12.

Since then? Harry Connick Jr., Billy Joel, Anthony Bourdain, Tyler Florence, Eric Ripert, Sandra Lee, Samantha Brown, Bobby Flay, Giada DiLaurentiis, Frank McCourt.

Subject:Cell phone opinions needed!

Ok, so my little trip to Sacramento this week just reinforced how much I need a new phone.

I use my phone for phone calls, taking pictures, occasional emails on Yahoo (though, using more often these days), and chatting on Yahoo IM.

Anyone have suggestions? Love your phone? Recommendations? :)

I picked up the iPhone and I'm just not sure. I have friends who hate them and friends who love them. Touch screen? Kinda cumbersome. Little tiny letter keyboard? More cumbersome?

Opinions!!! Please!! :) Thank you!

Subject:Writer's Block: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Cancelled flights, missed connections, long layovers—what's the worst holiday travel story you've heard? Or experienced?

We traveled across the country to meet family for the holidays when I was 12 weeks pregnant with our first child. Flying from Portland, Oregon, we flew south to Dallas, changing planes to Miami, changing planes to San Juan, Puerto Rico. In San Juan, we were to meet a smaller aircraft for flight to St. Thomas, USVI.

On Christmas Eve.

We were lucky enough to make it to Puerto Rico, where our plane to St. Thomas had already left, without us, mere minutes before our flight from Miami had arrived. Miserable and frustrated, we were offered a room at the airport hotel and given a 'mealcard' for the terminal McDonald's, which had already closed.

Merry Fucking Christmas.

Anybody got QuickTime Pro? I have the cutest .avi of Sarah, but it's horizontal instead of vertical. And iMovie won't keep it rotated!

Subject:Writer's Block: Novel Ideas

NaNoWriMo starts today. Give us a one-sentence description of the novel you plan to write.
I plan on writing a number of short memoir/personal essay stories in hopes that I'll be able to tie them together (or not) and compile them into a best-selling novel.

David Duchovny Enters Rehab for Sex Addiction

I'm sorry...but...what exactly makes it an 'addiction'? Like...he has lots of women on the side? He wants to get it on all day and all night? He spends all his money and free time surfing porn sites?

I just never understood how one could be a 'sex addict' (I mean...what man isn't?).

And..if you're going to be an addict, isn't sex pretty low in the addiction severity list?

Anyone, anyone?

Did I drive you away?
I know what you'll say
You'll say, "Oh, sing one we know"
But I promise you this
I'll always look out for you
That's what I'll do

And sing "oh"
I'll sing "oh"

My heart is yours
It's you that I hold on to
That's what I'll do
But I know I was wrong
And I won't let you down
(Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah I will, yes I will…)

But I'll sing "oh"
I cry "oh"

Yeah I saw sparks
Yeah I saw sparks
And I saw sparks
Yeah I saw sparks
Singing out
